DHL's new Boeing 757 offers extra 15 tonnes per flight across the Tasman and additional 25 per cent fuel efficiency.

DHL Express and airline partner Tasman Cargo Airlines (TCA) have launched a new Boeing 757 offering Trans-Tasman customers increased capacity and ‘greener’ a service. Travelling between Sydney and Auckland five times per week, the DHL/TCA Boeing 757 has additional capacity of 15 tonnes per flight and flies one extra rotation more than the Boeing 727. It is also 25 percent more fuel efficient, significantly quieter and emits less greenhouse gases.

Gary Edstein, senior vice president, Oceania, DHL Express, said the additional capacity is very much needed by exporters and importers on both sides of the Tasman.

“We are the only express operator with a dedicated aircraft operating across the Tasman as the Trans-Tasman trade lane continues to grow,” said Mr Edstein. “In 2009 alone, we experienced significant growth in Trans-Tasman shipments so increasing our capacity to offer faster services, and more often, to our customers is a key focus for us. We are delighted to partner with TCA to bring the new Boeing 757 into service.”
