DaimlerChrysler Awards the High Achievers from its Commercial Vehicle Stable

The corridors of power at the Victorian state parliamentary building in Spring Street hosted power of a different kind recently.

Names such as Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz and Sterling took centre stage alongside the high-achieving team members from the DaimlerChrysler Truck Group, whose achievements were recognised and celebrated at the company’s annual gala Dealer of the Year awards presentation.

In an awards-first, the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Truck Dealer award was jointly awarded to both DaimlerChrysler Commercial Vehicles in Huntingwood (NSW) and Whitehorse Truck Centre in Melbourne. Impressive performances by both leading truck dealerships brought about the first-time result.

In presenting the award, DaimlerChrysler Commercial Vehicles Managing Director, Ken Matthews, praised the two teams for their impressive results, emphasising that their respective standards were so high that a single winner could not be decided.

“Selecting a winner in a photo finish is normally fraught with frustration but we could not be more delighted in awarding two such high-performing dealer partners.

“These dealers and their teams have sought to produce the best results all year long and having two such high achievers constantly striving to succeed not only raises the overall standard of performance but also polishes the impressive qualities these dealers demonstrate to our customers each day,” said Matthews.

Stillwell Trucks in Milperra, Sydney, won the coveted Freightliner Dealer of the Year Award for a record third time after achieving impressive results in their annual sales, market share and customer service levels, among other key measures.

Tim Hartwig, Branch Manager Alan Kibble and the team at Hartwigs Trucks in Albury (NSW) were thrilled to win the hard-fought Sterling Dealer of the Year Award having led the way with outstanding service, parts and customer support to secure the win.

A new highlight in the annual evening was the addition of a new award category, the DaimlerChrysler Truck Dealer of the Year Award. Intended to reward excellence in representing all of the brands in the DaimlerChrysler truck stable, it was awarded to both a metropolitan and rural dealer partner. The inaugural winners were DaimlerChrysler Commercial Vehicles in Rocklea in QLD and West Orange Motors in NSW for the metropolitan and rural categories respectively.

“Reward and recognition goes hand-in-glove with competition,” said Ken Matthews.

“They say racing improves the breed and the annual Dealer of the Year awards seeks to build on the ever-improving standards of excellence across all of the brands in our stable.

“The winners who made their way to the top in 2006 did so in the most competitive of environments and we are proud to be able to recognise their achievements in supporting our loyal and valued customers,” concluded Matthews.

The Light Commercial Vehicle Dealers of the Year Awards for both metropolitan and rural dealerships went to Central Star Autohaus in Berwick (VIC) and Taree Motorama in NSW respectively.
