Daimler Trucks Posts Australian Sales Record in October

Record sales of Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Sterling trucks

Melbourne - Combined sales of the Daimler truck brands Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Sterling hit a new monthly record in October with 275 units sold in Australia.

Last month’s record figure surpassed the company’s previous sales record, set the month prior, and places the truck-maker on course for a record year in Australia.

Freightliner truck sales totalled 131 units for the month of October. This new Australian sales record has helped bring year-to-date (YTD) sales of the iconic American brand to 952. Driving this impressive result was the popularity of both the Argosy and Columbia ranges, with both models fast becoming the truck of choice by heavy haulage operators in Australia.

October sales of Mercedes-Benz trucks came to 81 units (YTD 583), a strong result powered by the versatile Actros.

Sales of the Sterling range totalled 63 units last month (YTD 408). Underpinned by strong demand for the popular LT 7500, Sterling sales have made a distinct mark on the Australian heavy truck landscape.

Commenting on the record result, managing director for commercial vehicles at DaimlerChrysler Australia / Pacific, Ken Matthews, said the result was another indication of the growing market demand for the company’s product line up.

“Our team’s October sales result indicates not only the increasingly popularity of our entire truck range but also their suitability for Australian transport operators.”
