Freighter, the market leader in transport solutions, demonstrated its skills in innovation with the EziLiner, a buckle-less curtain sider concept trailer released at the Brisbane Truck Show.
Since curtain sided trailers were first introduced into the Australian market in the 1970’s there has been very little change to their original design and functionality. Exactly 2 years ago, Freighter introduced the Safe-T-Liner, the first Australian designed buckle-less curtain sided trailer with integral load restraint. However, many customers have told Freighter that they liked the simplicity of conventional gates but strongly disliked buckles and straps and the time they took to operate.
The EziLiner concept is a curtain sided trailer with conventional gates, but no straps or buckles. Set to revolutionise curtain sided trailers, the EziLiner concept trailer is being used by Freighter to road test this revolutionary curtain design and evaluate the reaction of owners and operators.
The EziLiner design utilises a high tensile, synthetic cable running through a series of arcs in the bottom of the curtain to generate vertical tension in the curtain. This engineering principle has been used successfully in large tension roof structures at sports stadiums and other public and private structures for many years.
Featuring air operated cable tensioning that is simple and semi-automatic in operation, and no curtains or buckles to worry about, the EziLiner allows drivers to load and unload rapidly. With faster turn around times and more drops per day reducing the number of truck movements, the EziLiner will set the benchmark for curtain sided trailers. Not only will the EziLiner deliver increased operating efficiencies but will reduce OH&S risks by reducing the level of manual work required to open and close curtains.
The Freighter EziLiner is patent pending and is expected to be available for retail sale following field trials.

Australian innovation on show: the Freighter EziLiner prototype trailer gained much attention at the recent Brisbane Truck and Machinery show. Several major fleets are eager to participate in field trials with the EziLiner.
