IAL is about to make it even easier for drivers of light commercial vehicles to purchase a 'real' truck, following the release of the entry level ready-to-work NLR 200 Traypack.

Aimed squarely at business owners who may have outgrown a one tonne utility or van, the Traypack is available in both a short and medium wheelbase and has a payload capacity of approximately two tonnes.

The short wheel base model is fitted with a high quality 3630 mm x 1995 mm aluminium tray with one dropside per side, while the medium wheelbase Traypack is approximately 870 mm longer for total dimensions of 4500 mm x 1995 mm and two dropsides per side.

As with Isuzu's other popular ready-to-work models, the Traypack is fully equipped and can be virtually driven straight from the dealership* to the worksite eliminating lengthy delays at the bodybuilders.

According to IAL Marketing Manager, Jeff Birdseye, the NLR 200 Traypack has many standard features that will make it particularly attractive for buyers looking to upgrade.

"The Traypack can be driven on a car licence and is available at an extremely competitive price; combine this with a large load space and the ability to be put to work right from the showroom floor, and I think the overall package will certainly appeal to many buyers," Mr Birdseye said.

"Of course the Traypack also benefits from the enhanced features of Isuzu's recently released, all-new 2008 models including ABS brakes, Driver's airbag, Hill Start Aid (HSA), Anti Skid Regulator (ASR) and a powerful yet fuel efficient engine."

Powering the Traypack is the 4-cylinder, 3.0 litre, EuroIV-compliant SiTEC Series II 150 engine, producing 110 kW of power and strong torque of 375 Nm, ideal for hauling large loads and towing heavy trailers, particularly when coupled with Isuzu's versatile 5-speed synchromesh manual transmission.

As well as offering these strong performance characteristics, the turbocharged and air-to-air intercooled engine is one of the cleanest available, emitting as little as one-sixth of the particulate matter (PM) standard met by other comparable Japanese trucks.  PM is the smoke, soot and harmful invisible unburned hydrocarbons emitted from a truck's exhaust.

For a more comfortable driving experience and improved handling, the Traypack is specified with independent front coil suspension.

Driver comfort extends to the ergonomically-designed cabin which features increased forward vision, in cab noise reductions of five decibels compared to previous N Series models and electric and heated mirrors for greater convenience.

Other standard features include keyless entry with central locking, electric windows, fully integrated air conditioning and radio/CD player, with optional multimedia unit.

The NLR 200 Traypack is available from participating Isuzu dealers at a recommended sale price of $33,990 for the short wheelbase and $34,990 for the medium wheelbase.  Pricing includes dealer delivery but excludes Government and statutory charges.

"At this price we believe that operators of traditional 'one-tonne' utes will realise that for about the same cost of replacing their current vehicle, they can get into a real truck and almost double their payload capacity," Mr Birdseye said.
