Dependability and chassis versatility are two of the reasons a Queensland mobile meat vendor chose a second Hino 300 Series to expand her fleet of mobile sales vehicles.

Seafood Direct and Butcher Boy Meats proprietor Michelle Slessor said the versatility of her first Hino 300 Series (an 816 model) in accepting a custom body, and the recent addition of Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to the new 300 Series range, meant choosing another Hino was easy.

"I love my Hinos, they're such an excellent choice for small business," she said.

"They have all the features I need for my operation - excellent reliability, comfort, and after-sales backup.

"They're safe, well-equipped, and the cabins are comfortable. They drive well, and I like their looks too."

Michelle added that the new Hino 300 Series was particularly easy to use on a daily basis, with 'car-like' dynamics.

"The six-speed autos in both my trucks are great, and 400-odd kilometres each a week is handled with ease," she said.

Both trucks are fitted with custom-built refrigerated bodies, designed and built by Icehawk Transport Refrigeration, which effectively turn the trucks into fully-functioning mobile storefronts.

The custom bodies mean there is no grappling with tricky stall set-ups or cumbersome displays when Michelle and her team arrive at market.

The trucks' passenger sides open to reveal glass cabinets stocked with fresh meat and seafood, just like a shop.

"All we need to do is park on site, open a door or two, and we're open for business," Michelle said.

"We work out in the front of the opening and shout to people at the markets just as if we were at an auction - the Hinos are perfect for us."

According to Paul McClurg, sales consultant at Sci-Fleet Hino in Kedron, Queensland, Michelle's decision to buy a second Hino reinforced the brand's reputation for quality and value.

"Michelle was very keen on the new 616 model - she didn't even need to look at photos to make her decision!" Paul said.

"The performance and versatility of their initial Hino, along with the outstanding credentials of the new model made the choice an easy one."
