For the seventh time, vans, trucks and buses from the Stuttgart manufacturer win first place in a reader’s vote organised by ETM-Verlag publishing house
The winners: Sprinter, Actros long-distance truck, Actros dumper truck, the Tourino and Citaro coaches from Mercedes-Benz and the TopClass 400 from Setra
Stuttgart – During the eleventh readers’ poll organised by the publisher ETM-Verlag, commercial vehicles from the DaimlerChrysler group once again achieved extremely good results. They took first place in no less than six of the ten categories.
For the eleventh time in succession, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was voted the winner in the category "Vans up to 3.5 t". This means that it has won all the reader’s votes organised by the Stuttgart motoring magazine publisher to-date. As standard equipment, the Sprinter features the adaptive Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which electronically measures the vehicle’s mass and centre of gravity.
One truck series from the production plant in Wörth, Germany, was awarded a double victory by the readers: the Mercedes-Benz Actros won the commercial vehicle vote in both the "Long-distance trucks" and "Dumper trucks up to 32 t" categories.
In the high-decker touring coach category, the readers once again awarded first place to the Top Class 400 model from Setra, another DaimlerChrysler AG brand. This is the fourth time in succession that this premium touring coach has come out on top. The Mercedes-Benz Citaro took first place in the category for regular-service urban buses, while the award in the midibus class was won by the Mercedes-Benz Tourino.
Around 8500 readers took part in the vote for "The best commercial vehicles of 2007". There is no doubt that the prizes on offer go some way to explaining why the number of entries was higher than the previous year: this time the star prize was a brand-new Mercedes-Benz Viano.
The organisers were the Stuttgart motoring magazines "Fernfahrer", "lastauto omnibus" and "trans aktuell", together with Dekra AG. The poll covered around 150 vans, trucks and buses in ten categories.
