The Cat® 140K is a classic motor grader from Caterpillar's K Series, powered by the Cat® C7 ACERT™ engine delivering a net power range of 128–143 kW (171–191 hp) , with an operating weight of approximately 14,768–17,271 kg depending on configuration, and a standard moldboard width of 3.7 m (12 ft) . The drivetrain features a direct-drive powershift transmission with 8 forward and 6 reverse speeds , achieving a top forward speed of 46.8–47.3 km/h and a top reverse speed of 37–37.4 km/h . The hydraulic system is a load-sensing, closed-center, proportional priority pressure-compensated (PPPC) system with a variable-displacement piston pump delivering a maximum flow of 210.5 L/min at a system pressure of 25,500 kPa . The moldboard offers a maximum lift above ground of 480 mm and a maximum cutting depth of 735 mm , with left/right side-shift capabilities (512 mm left / 663 mm right) and circle-side-shift (752 mm left / 728 mm right). The front wheels tilt ±18° with each side oscillating 32° . Fuel tank capacity is 305 L , cooling system holds 40 L , and engine oil capacity is 18–25 L . The cab meets ROPS/FOPS standards and comes standard with pneumatic multi-disc service brakes and a parking brake, with optional Cat AccuGrade™ grade control system and Cat Product Link™ remote monitoring system available.
