JL Transport has been using Freighter trailers since 1990 when the transport company began operating on interstate routes. Today, Freighter-brand trailers make up most of JL Transport’s nearly 60-strong fleet. JL Transport is operated by Jack and Michael Hellyer, a father and son duo who recently took some time to detail the reasons why their firm has remained loyal to the MaxiTRANS-owned Freighter brand.
“We still have 30-year-old trailers—that’s how reliable they have been,” says Jack. “Yes, we’ve done maintenance on axles to keep them going, but because the body of the trailers has been so good, we have pretty much every trailer we’ve ever purchased. We have been very happy with the performance of our Freighter trailers. There have been no issues with any of the trailers so far.”
Jack estimates that 95% of JL Transport’s trailers operate on interstate routes, and the older trailers are still used locally because they are “are too good to sell off or trade in.”
A Great Relationship
“Our strong relationship with MaxiTRANS is the reason we keep going back to them,” Michael says. “The reliability of the Freighter brand, the servicing support and the help we get there make it a good package for us. It’s been like this from the start—a good product, good service, and good sales team. All of that combined, works really well for us.”
Jack agrees. “I’ve been dealing with them for years and years,” he says. “If we need something done, it gets done quickly.”
