Fuso says its new Shogun 510 is the most powerful Euro 6 Japanese heavy-duty truck available. This 510-horsepower (380-kilowatt) truck delivers 2,500 newton-metres (1,844 pounds-foot) of torque.
“We pushed hard to get the 13-litre engine into the Shogun for our market because our customers made it clear they wanted a Japanese heavy-duty truck with serious performance,” says Daniel Whitehead, president and CEO of Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific. “We’re glad it has joined the lineup because the Shogun 510 is the perfect example of how the global strength and engineering might of Daimler Trucks gives our Australian customers a real competitive advantage.”
The Shogun 510 Up Close
The Shogun 510 is equipped with Daimler’s OM471 six-cylinder engine, which produces maximum power at 1,600 rpm and the full 2,500 N-m of torque at just 1,100 rpm. When operating at 800 rpm, the Shogun 510’s engine is still able to deliver 86% of its maximum torque. Fuso offers the Shogun 510 as a 6x4 prime mover or rigid, and all options feature a 12-speed automated transmission. Daimler’s EcoRoll system is equipped to help save fuel.
Fuso says the Shogun 510 is designed for metro and intrastate transport, which they back up with a gross combination mass (GCM) of 63 tonnes (69 U.S tons) and gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 26 t (28.5 U.S. t).
“Fuso has been steadily growing our share of the heavy-duty market, and the new 510 model, as well as the renewal of the entire Shogun range, will help us attract even more heavy-duty customers,” says Fuso Truck and Bus Australia Director Alex Müller.
Across the Shogun range, Fuso provides a long list of advanced safety technologies. With the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) and Active Attention Assist (AAA), Shogun heavy-duty trucks actively help prevent accidents. The latest version of AEBS on the 510 combines camera and radar technology to better detect pedestrians and allows the truck to automatically stop in the event a driver does not respond. Returning safety features include the manufacturer’s Lane Departure Warning System, Electronic Stability Program, and Hill Start System to assist drivers in all types of situations.
