Hino recently won a Safe Vehicle Award for its 500 Series Wide Cab at the Australasian Brake Fleet Safety Awards event that took place on 11 October in Auckland, New Zealand. Brake, a road safety charity based in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, and a panel of judges selected the Hino 500 Series Wide Cab for the award thanks to its suite of safety features designed to prevent crashes, rollovers, and other types of accidents on the road.
“Safety Was The Centrepiece”
“The enormous success of the Hino 500 Series Wide Cab in the marketplace since its launch last year is hugely gratifying and what we strive for as a business, but it is always nice when your efforts are recognised by your peers in the industry,” says Hino Australia’s Manager of Product Strategy Daniel Petrovski. “Safety was the centrepiece of the development of the 500 Series Wide Cab, and we are proud that it sets a benchmark for the category, so this recognition of that approach is appreciated.”
The Hino 500 Series Wide Cab offers several safety measures designed to protect the truck operator as well as other drivers on the road. Vehicle stability control (VSC) helps prevent rollovers when driving around corners; the anti-lock braking system (ABS) prevents wheels from locking up when putting heavy force on the brakes; and the anti-slip regulator (ASR) is a traction control system for giving trucks a better grip on the road, particularly in wet or icy conditions. Other safety features include a driver-side SRS airbag, cruise control, fog lamps, engine immobiliser for theft prevention, and more.
