Hino Australia recently added the new FS 2848 AMT AIR 6267 long-wheelbase option to its 700 Series range of heavy-duty trucks. The newest variant of the 6x4 FS 2848 will feature a 12.9-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged Hino E13C engine that offers up to 480 horsepower and 2,157 newton metres of torque and meets Euro 5 emissions standards. It also has a ZF TraXon 2441TO 16-speed automated manual transmission, drive axles with Hendrickson HAS 460 air suspensions, and a steer axle with a long taper leaf suspension.
Fulfilling A Need
“We have developed this truck at the specific request of our customers – it is suitable for any number of applications, from general farm duties or cattle trucks to a 14-pallet rigid freight truck or a flat tray with a rear-mounted crane,” says Daniel Petrovski, manager of product strategy at Hino Australia. “With the availability of a factory-built long-wheelbase FS 2848 variant, the 700 Series is now a viable solution for customers seeking a higher-horsepowered, long-wheelbase rigid truck.”
Cab & Interior Features
The Hino FS 2848 AMT AIR 6267’s cab meets European ECE R29 crash certification standards and has several safety features, including an SRS airbag on the driver’s side, an anti-lock braking system, FUP (Front Underrun Protection) that meets ADR84/00 standards, a reversing camera, and electric rearview mirrors. It also has a 6.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display with Android, a digital radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth for hands-free calling and speech-to-text, and optional GPS navigation.
“The cab on the FS is mounted to the grid hole chassis via the Hino four-point cab air suspension with the driver seated in the ISRI6860/870 air suspended seat with its multiple air comfort adjustments and integrated seatbelt,” says Petrovski. “Adding to the truck’s appeal is the all-new Hino smart Multimedia System, which includes standard reversing camera and an unprecedented level of vehicle connectivity and entertainment possibilities.”
