At this year’s Brisbane Truck Show, which just wrapped up over the weekend, Hino highlighted the wide range of safety features that come standard on its 500 Series, 300 Series, and 700 Series trucks. The stars of Hino’s stand were two 500 Series Standard Cab trucks, configured as FE1426 and FD1124 models powered by the five-litre, four-cylinder A05 turbo-charged engine. These vehicles come standard with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and more.
Hino also displayed a 500 Series Wide Cab FM2632 model, which features a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission and an electronically controlled air suspension.
“The 500 Series Standard Cab boasts the most comprehensive active safety package available from a Japanese manufacturer in the medium duty market,” said Bill Gillespie, general manager of brand and franchise development for Hino Australia. “The safety features it contains are all standard because, at Hino, the safety of our customers, their passengers and other road users is not an option. Safety credentials aside, this truck also sets new benchmarks in comfort, technology, operational efficiency and its green credentials.”
Hino 300 Series
Hino also showed off several 300 Series models, including a Hybrid model with a diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 420 newton-metres of torque coupled with a 36-kilowatt electric motor. Another popular model is the 300 Series 817 4x4 that, according to Gillespie, “is the only 7.5-tonne GVM 4x4 truck in Australia with vehicle stability control (VSC), driver and passenger airbags, cruise control, and reversing camera as standard features. The final 300 Series model is a 616 IFT Tipper truck, also powered by a 150-horsepower engine, that has an anti-lock braking system, VSC, dual SRS airbags, and an anti-slip regulator.
Hino 700 Series
The lone Hino 700 Series heavy-duty truck is an SH2045 that is used to transport “the Hino Sports Deck display trailer to rounds of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship,” the company says. It has a six-cylinder turbocharged, inter-cooled diesel engine that produces 450 horsepower and 2,157 newton-metres of torque and a 16-speed ZF AS Tronic automated manual transmission. It also features an ISRI 6860/870 driver’s seat, cruise control, disc brakes, VSC, and a driver-side SRS airbag.
