At the 2019 AFAC (Australian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council) conference, which runs from 27 to 30 August at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, IVECO is highlighting two IVECO Eurocargo trucks designed specifically for firefighting. The first is a Eurocargo ML140 4x4 heavy tanker featuring bodywork from Bell Environmental, a 5.9-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 129 horsepower and 950 newton-metres of torque, and a six-speed automated manual transmission. The dual cab truck has room for up to five people total and is well-suited for off-road operations thanks to full-time 4x4 and front, centre, and rear locking differentials.
Magirus M42L-AS Turntable Ladder
The second IVECO truck on display at AFAC19 is a Eurocargo 4x2 model with an M42L-AS articulated turntable ladder from Magirus, IVECO’s sister company that specializes in firefighting equipment. The turntable ladder supports a working cage that can hold up to three people with a maximum weight capacity of 500 kilograms and maximum working height of 42 metres. IVECO points out that the M42L-AS is highly capable of performing a wide range of applications beyond general firefighting, such as “civilian rescue, tree and debris clearing, bridge incident, and inspection.”
Magirus At AFAC & Beyond
“Magirus has a long and proud heritage in Europe offering a broad range of innovative turnkey firefighting solutions. Increasingly, the brand is now being considered more greatly in the Australian and New Zealand markets and response to Magirus products is extremely positive,” says Rory Wale, IVECO Emergency Service & Specialised account manager. “We’re confident that the M42L-AS model that IVECO is showcasing this year at AFAC will draw a lot of attention and enquiry. Following AFAC, IVECO will also demonstrate a Magirus turntable ladder appliance to a number of firefighting bodies on the eastern seaboard, allowing these organisations to see the vehicle in operation.”
