Western Star Trucks recently announced that it is officially coming back to the Brisbane Truck Show this year from 16 to 19 May and its bringing its 5800FE and 6900FXC trucks with it. You’ll find Western Star on stand No.50, where you can not only see the two models in person, but also get a chance to meet Dick Johnson, former racecar driver and part-owner of DJR Team Penske, at 11:30 a.m. on 19th May.
“Since we released the streamlined 5800FE last year, customers have told us that they have found the truck to be outstanding,” says Kevin Dennis, managing director of Penske Commercial Vehicles. “The truck not only looks sleek, but is a great unit particularly for b-double applications. We also think Truck Show attendees will enjoy learning more about the 6900 that has been a true stalwart of the Australian trucking industry.”
5800FE & 6900FXC
The relatively new 5800FE features a set-back front axle, which is what makes it well-suited for b-double operations, but also has a highly aerodynamic design, highlighted by its down swept exhaust. It is powered by a Detroit DD15 engine, which can produce up to 505 horsepower and 2,373 newton metres of torque. The 6900FXC, on the other hand, is a tri-drive model that supports a gross combination mass of up to 250,000 kilograms. It comes standard with a Cummins X15 engine that produces up to 600 horsepower and 2,779 newton metres of torque.
