CT178 Tilt Bed Car Transporters The CT177 and CT178 represent the premium end of the Ifor Williams vehicle transporter range, offering exceptional versatility for vehicle recovery operators, dealerships, hire companies and motorsport professionals. Designed to accommodate a wide variety of vehicles, these transporters are wide enough for most light commercial vehicles while remaining practical for transporting passenger cars. The CT178 builds upon the proven CT177 platform with an increased bed width, making it particularly well suited to larger SUVs, 4WDs and modern electric vehicles. Both models feature a hydraulically tilting bed combined with pull-out mini skids, enabling fast, safe and efficient loading. Whether loading a vehicle under its own power or using one of the available winch options, the tilt-bed design simplifies the process and reduces loading times. Engineered using high-strength materials and an optimised chassis design, the CT177 and CT178 deliver an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. The wheel arch tops sit just 100mm (4") above the trailer bed, providing excellent door clearance and allowing drivers to enter and exit vehicles with ease. High-grip tread surfaces further improve safety during loading and unloading. Optional heavy-duty wheel straps with soft-link attachments are available to securely restrain vehicles without risking damage to expensive alloy wheels. These straps can be conveniently stored within the integrated lockable toolbox when not in use. The fully retained mini skids provide additional ground clearance when loading low vehicles and can be quickly deployed from their storage position at the rear of the trailer. Once loading is complete, they slide neatly back into place for transport. For recovery applications, an adjustable removable winch bracket can be positioned across the width of the trailer, allowing precise alignment with off-centre towing and recovery points. An optional centre decking system is also available to provide additional footing and improve operator safety during loading and unloading.
