All-Electric Volta Zero To Make First Public Appearance At IAA Transportation In Hanover

From 19 to 25 September, Volta Trucks will showcase its all-electric Volta Zero at IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany, Europe’s largest show for commercial vehicles. This event will be the first chance for the public to see a functional Volta Zero on the Volta Trucks stand (No. B18), and another prototype Volta Zero will be available for customer evaluation and feedback in the show’s demonstration area.

“I’m looking forward to meeting our customers and future prospects at the show, as well as enabling them to experience a Design Verification prototype vehicle firsthand at the event’s driving experience centre,” says Volta Trucks CEO Essa Al-Saleh. “It promises to be a significant moment for Volta Trucks, just ahead of starting real-world vehicle evaluation and trials of vehicles in customer depots later this year, and commencing production of customer vehicles soon afterwards.”

Volta Trucks plans to bring a host of its product and service experts to the show. From technical staff who know the Volta Truck inside and out to company experts on Volta’s Truck as A Service subscription model, customers will have the opportunity to learn about the Volta Zero design, vehicle charging, and available subsidies and incentives for those transitioning to zero-tailpipe emission fleets.

“Germany is an extremely important market to Volta Trucks and the wider automotive industry,” Al-Saleh says. “We see significant commercial traction in Germany for the full-electric Volta Zero, thanks in part to the progressive mindset of German fleet owners and generous subsidies and incentives from the government to motivate the transition to zero-tailpipe emission trucks.”

City Centre Logistics

Because the Volta Zero is designed for urban logistics work, its creators prioritized driver and pedestrian safety, with design elements such as a centred driver station inside a glasshouse-style cab that puts drivers at eye level with pedestrians and other road users. Technical additions like rearview cameras, a blind spot warning system, and a 360-degree birds-eye view camera further enhance the driver’s situational awareness. The 16-tonne (17.6-U.S.-ton) Zero will offer 8,600 kilograms (18,960 pounds) of payload capacity and 37.7 cubic metres (1,331 cubic feet) of load space. The company expects the 16-t model to offer a rear axle capacity of 11 t (12 U.S. t) and a front axle rated at 5 t (5.5 U.S. t). Range for the Volta Zero is expected to be between 150 to 200 kilometres (93 to 125 miles).
