IVECO Stralis offers the perfect platform for family’s horses and equine travels

Posted On: Monday, 23 April 2018

As a farmer in Moree, New South Wales, Ben Traynor is not a stranger to commercial vehicles and agricultural equipment. His familiarity includes several tractors, spraying rigs, and headers he regularly uses that power on IVECO engines, which he notes have always been fuel-efficient, strong performers. Thus, when Traynor and his wife, Lee, were seeking a high-end vehicle able to transport their horses to show horse and horse hacking events while also providing them and their two daughters added living space, they turned to the IVECO Stralis ATi as the ideal platform.

    “A great overall package”

The Traynors specifically acquired a 4x2 Stralis ATi using a 360-horsepower Cursor 8 engine that’s paired with IVECO’s 12-speed EuroTronic automated manual transmission. Before turning the truck over to Signature Custom Floats for body fitment, they also outfitted the truck with a bogie axle for better weight management.

“It’s a great overall package that drives really well and is extremely quiet and comfortable. We love driving it,” Traynor said in a news release. “The Stralis is so stable and sits so well on the road. I like to travel at the speed limit, so I go 100 kilometres up the hills. It has plenty of power and does it easily while also returning good fuel consumption.”

IVECO, a CNH Industrial brand, designs and manufacturers various light-, medium-, and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, off-road trucks, and vehicles. Beyond the Stralis, IVECO offers the light-duty Daily, the medium-duty Eurocargo, and the heavy-duty Trakker. The company’s Astra brand, meanwhile, includes off-road trucks, rigid and articulated dumpers, and special vehicles. In Australia, the Dandenong, Victoria-based IVECO Australia manufacturers and imports light-, medium-, and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

    Getting away

Previously, Traynor and his family were traveling nearly every weekend using an older Japanese truck. What they needed was a truck capable of comfortably transporting their horses and equipment over further distances, and more spacious living accommodations. This led them to the Stralis ATi. “It’s a great vehicle that is providing us with a lot of quality family time,” Traynor said. “People have asked me about the Stralis, and I’ve had no hesitations in referring a heap of prospective customers to Brisbane IVECO where we purchased it from. We’re so impressed by it.”

In addition to space for transporting five horses, the Traynors’ Stralis includes a fully equipped kitchen with Caesar stone benchtops, a convection oven, microwave, electric stovetop, large fridge, and slide-out dining area. The living space features a split-system air conditioner, remote push-start generator under the floor, double bed above the cabin, shower, toilet, and bunk beds. A Eurocargo sleeper cabin, meanwhile, can sleep a fifth person while the vehicle’s exterior features a slide-out storage area that stores a washing machine, gas barbeque, and Engle fridge.
