AHG opens new Daimler trucks dealership in Melbourne, Victoria

The Automotive Holdings Group and Daimler Truck and Bus recently opened a flagship dealership in Melbourne's west. The $30 million, 11,000-square-metre facility sits on 6.8 hectares of land and has 48 service bays, six wash bays, 11 pre-delivery build-up stations, two road train pits, and facilities for shaker and roller testing. It also features an advanced sales lounge and dedicated service centre with another lounge and waiting area, as well as 135 bays for displaying trucks. The Melbourne location follows in the footsteps of AHG’s Daimler Trucks Perth facility in Laverton, which was built in 2015, and borrows many of its design elements from that dealership.

“The AHG Daimler Trucks Perth facility has proven to be an outstanding success, and the team has delivered again with this fantastic new dealership,” said Daniel Whitehead, president and CEO of Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific, in a news release. “We are delighted that AHG has made a significant investment in the Daimler Truck and Bus business as part of a long and fruitful partnership and we know that our Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso customers will appreciate this wonderful new facility.”

    Full-service dealership

AHG’s Laverton dealership will offer service around the clock, with its main facility open from 7 a.m. to midnight in addition to 24/7 breakdown service for vehicles within 300 kilometres of the dealership. It also sports a large parts department that uses “logic controlled stock and pick technology,” according to Daimler Trucks. This improves the dealership’s overall efficiency when it comes to stocking and supplying parts.

“It’s truly an honour for our team to be offered an opportunity such as this,” said Don Hovenden, dealer principal at Daimler Trucks Laverton. “We are certainly looking forward to proving our commitment to excellence in customer service from this outstanding new dealership, not only in truck and bus sales but also in maintenance, repairs and parts sales.”
