Superior Pak & Faun GROUP Announced Joint Venture
Waste management companies Superior Pak and the FAUN Group, which operates as part of the KIRCHHOFF Group, recently announced a joint venture. Superior Pak, which is based in Brisbane and operates a main manufacturing facility in Bundaberg, Queensland, specialises in equipment used for general waste collection and compaction. The company works with major vehicle manufacturers including DAF, Dennis Eagle, Fuso, Hino, IVECO, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, and Volvo.
“New technologies for vehicle drive systems combined with the expertise of both partners in the production of class leading waste disposal and collection equipment will reinforce the strong future ahead for Australian manufacturing and the abilities of our workforce,” said Rob Wrigley, managing director of Superior Pak, in a press release.
FAUN Group
FAUN’s roots go back to 1845, although the company didn’t obtain its current official name until 1916. The company built its first dust cart, a waste collection vehicle, in 1897, before moving on to street sweepers and waste collection vehicles in 1908. Almost 90 years later, in 1994, the KIRCHHOFF Group added FAUN on as a new division. Today, the company is widely known for manufacturing and selling sweeper and waste disposal vehicles as well as offering rentals and leases. FAUN is currently developing electric and fuel cell drive options for its vehicles.
“We are very pleased to welcome Superior Pak in our Group,” said Patrick Hermanspann, CEO of FAUN Group. “It is an honour for us to work closely together and to strengthen our business. All parties can learn from each other and we provide our customers with the best trucks and after sales services.”
Management Structure
Superior Pak’s management structure will remain intact with Rob Wrigley staying on as managing director. FAUN will become a join shareholder of Superior Pak along with Wrigley, but FAUN will purchase shares from Rowley Errington and Anne Barry, who were once directors with Superior Pak. As part of the deal, Superior Pak will get Wastech’s FAUN distribution rights. The distribution rights will transfer immediately, and the shareholder changes will go into effect in September.
