New Isuzu NQR 87-190 Joins Growing Waste Removal Fleet

“The NQR has great power for that size of truck, this was a big factor for us,” says owner Jari Maatta. (Photo courtesy of Isuzu.)

The distinctive bright orange bins of AAA Skip Bins’ waste removal fleet are easy to spot when working in Bundaberg and surrounding areas of the Queensland coast. The latest eye-catching addition to the fleet is an Isuzu NQR 87-190, complete with a hooklift and a 3.4-metre (134-inch) wheelbase that gives AAA Skip Bins enhanced flexibility and manoeuvrability on busy worksites.

“With the hooklift, I can arrive at the jobsite and stay in the truck while lowering the bins onto the ground,” says owner Jari Maatta. “This one is a medium wheelbase, which is exactly what I was looking for because we do a lot of inside access work in the city and around construction sites.”

    Powering A Growing Business

The population boom occurring throughout the regional cities in Queensland has meant more business for the waste removal service. From construction waste generated by new housing to rubbish removal on refurbished buildings, AAA Skip Bins’ services have been in high demand.

“AAA Skip Bins has grown around 25% during the past year, if not more,” Maatta says. The Isuzu NQR 87-190 has what it takes to help AAA Skip Bins at all types of jobsites with its four-cylinder 4HK1-TCC engine that produces 190 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 512 newton-metres (378 pounds-foot) of torque. “The NQR has great power for that size of truck, this was a big factor for us,” says Maatta.

    More On The Isuzu NQR

Isuzu’s NQR trucks feature a gross vehicle mass of 8,700 kilograms (19,180 pounds) and a gross combination mass of 12,200 kg (26,896 lbs). Isuzu offers the NQR in standard or crew cab configurations and with an automatic or manual transmission. AAA Skip Bins selected the automatic transmission to simplify manoeuvres in tight spaces.

“All my trucks are automatic—I find the automated manual transmission fantastic,” says Maatta. Isuzu equips a full suite of intelligent safety enhancements in the form of its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), with features to engage emergency braking and alert drivers to potentially dangerous traffic.
