LDV recently announced the arrival of Australia’s first all-electric ute, the eT60. The dual-cab eT60 has a range of 330 kilometres (205 miles) and offers a similar design to LDV’s diesel-powered T60 Max Pro, including the double independent wishbone suspension up front and a leaf spring rear suspension calibrated for Australian conditions. The eT60 is equipped with the same 88.55 kilowatt-hour, lithium-ion battery used in LDV’s eDeliver 9 van and can be fully charged in nine hours with an 11-kW charger, while DC fast-charging can bring the battery’s charge from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes.

“We’re an OEM offering Australia’s first electric ute and everything that comes with that fact: a nationwide dealer network, factory-backed servicing and warranty, and a significant spare parts operation to manage our fast-growing carpark,” says LDV General Manager Dinesh Chinnappa.

    No-Compromise Performance

With an output of 130 kW and 310 newton-metres (229 foot-pounds) of torque, the eT60 offers performance comparable to LDV’s diesel-powered T60 Max. Normal, Power, and Eco driving modes are available to let drivers select a power experience ideal for each trip, and the electric ute has regenerative braking to recapture power as the vehicle slows down. Towing capacity for the eT60 comes in at 1,000 kilograms (2,205 pounds), and LDV provides four tie-down points in the bed to secure loads. The bed itself has a spray-in tub liner to reduce wear.

    Modern Amenities

LDV equips the eT60 with an array of safety systems, starting with a reversing camera with a rear-parking sensor, as well as electronic stability control with emergency brake assist technology. There are also hill start assist, roll movement intervention, and hill descent controls to help when towing and operating on rugged terrain. The advanced technology extends to the cab, where LDV includes rain-sensing windshield wipers and six-way adjustable front seats. Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity also come standard.
