Family Logistics Firm Relies On Isuzu FSD 140-260 Trucks To Keep Deliveries Cold & On Time
When selecting an urban delivery vehicle, dependability is the top priority for Micway. The cold logistics supplier based in Western Sydney routinely opts for Isuzu’s FSD 140-260 trucks with shortened wheelbases for its fleet operating on tight schedules.
“We work the small trucks 16 or 17 hours a day over two shifts,” says Micway Director of Operations and partial namesake Wayne Franklin. “Those are typically the Isuzu trucks, they’re the hardest working trucks we have in the fleet.”
14-Pallet Trucks
Micway often fits its FSD 140-260 cab and chassis trucks with refrigerated van bodies and tailgate loaders. The FSD 140-260’s gross combined mass of 21,000 kilograms (46,297 pounds) is ideal for transporting refrigerated freight, and Isuzu’s 6HK1-TCC engine produces 260 horsepower (191 kilowatts) to haul cold contents.
These 14-pallet trucks form the core of Micway’s urban delivery fleet, and the business currently has 35 of the trucks operating across the eastern seaboard. “We started with just a couple of trucks, but we have about 80 on the road at the minute, with work for at least a hundred staff and helped out by our subcontractors,” says Franklin. ‘You need reliability, and we’ve really found that in the Isuzu trucks.”
The Right Tools For The Job
The Isuzu FSDs in Micway’s fleet are equipped with a six-speed Allison LCT2500 automatic transmission, which is a big boost for the newer operators in Micway’s driver pool. “We tend to hire a lot of young people who may have just received their license, and we give them that opportunity in the transport industry,” explains Franklin. “For running around the city, in and out of tight lanes and awkward spots, [the Isuzu trucks have] been a godsend for us and our drivers absolutely love them.”
