Alvaro Transport Acquires 21 New Iveco S-Way 460 4x2 Prime Movers As Part Of Fleet Renewal Initiative
Family and Iveco trucks are steady fixtures of Alvaro Transport, a Sydney-based provider of national transport, logistics, and warehousing services. Managing Director Mario Alvaro founded the company in 2002 after his father introduced him to the transport industry.
In recent years, Mario’s children have joined Alvaro Transport, introducing a fresh perspective that resulted in tech-driven implementations and a focus on the future. An example is the recent purchase of 21 new Iveco S-Way AT (all-terrain) 460 4x2 prime movers added as part of an ongoing fleet-renewal effort.
Iveco From The Start
Following in his father Antonio’s footsteps, Mario Alvaro began his career as a transport contractor. In 2002, Alvaro purchased his company’s first Iveco truck. Iveco trucks have been part of the operation ever since.
Because Alvaro Transport distributes goods exclusively for clients listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, vehicle quality and proper governance are crucial factors when purchasing fleet vehicles.
“Factors such as emission performance, safety features, and the general technology inclusions of the fleet are all considered during truck purchases,” Alvaro says. “These are not only important requirements for our clients, but also for Alvaro Transport as a business.”
The S-Way Exceeds Expectations
Alvaro Transport’s latest S-Way 460s have been on the road for several months. They’ve already impressed Alvaro and exceeded his drivers’ expectations with their performance, drivability, driveline quality, and safety.
The truck’s impressive list of safety-enhancing technologies includes an advanced emergency braking system, a brake assistance system, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, and hill holder functionality.
“The drivers are extremely happy, and they’re also commenting about the power and how well the trucks pull for the gross combination mass (50 tonnes),” Alvaro says.
The S-Way 460 4x2 Prime Mover
The 460 4x2 prime mover receives power from a Cursor II engine compliant with the Euro 6 Step E emissions standard. The power plant is rated for 460 horsepower (338 kilowatts) at 1,500 rpm and 2,150 newton-metres (1,586 pounds-foot) of maximum torque at 925 rpm.
Iveco says the truck’s engine and 12-speed Hi-Tronix Automated Manual Transmission are ideal for the metropolitan and intrastate delivery routes Alvaro Transport’s drivers navigate.
The AT 460 4x2 has an air-suspended cab with a 2-person cabin interior. The truck includes a low-roof sleeper cab or an optional high-roof sleeper cab.
