The Isuzu MU-X has a new look, with updated upholstery trims and accents, an improved 4.2-inch or new 7-in. digital display, and an 8- or 9-in. infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The popular 7-seat SUV received improvements in form, function, drivability, and efficiency, as well as a new flagship model, the Isuzu MU-X X-Terrain.

A new, locally developed suspension improves handling. Isuzu’s safety suite includes new stereo cameras, a 360-degree surround view system for the LS-T and X-Terrain, and updates to active safety features.

“The updated 2025 MU-X represents a major milestone in the evolution of one of Australia’s favourite SUVs,” says Isuzu UTE Australia Managing Director Junta Matsui. “Built on a foundation of customer and media feedback, this significant update enhances packaging and specification across the range—keeping the MU-X at the pointy end of the highly competitive large-SUV segment as one of the top choices.”

    The New Isuzu MU-X Range

    With the addition of the new X-Terrain, the 2025 MU-X range includes 10 models available with the 110-kilowatt (147-horsepower), 350-newton-metre (258-pounds-foot) 1.9-litre engine or a 140-kW (188-HP), 450-N-m (332-lbs-ft) turbo-diesel and a 4x2 or 4x4 6-speed automatic drivetrain.

    MU-X X-Terrain Details

The X-Terrain has a dark aesthetic, with an updated grille, fog light surrounds, 20-in. alloy wheels, and fender flares finished in gloss black. Previously, chrome or grey trims and accents were also finished in gloss black. The X-Terrain’s achromatic finish options include Moonstone White pearl, Mercury Silver metallic, Basalt Black mica, and the model-exclusive colour, Slate Grey metallic. The interior colours are black and red, and the red theme spreads to the 7-in. Multi-Information Display.

    Updated Features

The X-Terrain, along with the LS-U and LS-T, has the new 9-in. touchscreen infotainment system with USB-C connectivity, voice recognition, DAB+ digital radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The LS-M has an 8-in. display. The 9-in. screen also has satellite navigation, ADAS settings control, and tyre pressure and temperature monitoring.

Rough Terrain Mode, designed to increase off-road capability by modulating brake pressure on individual wheels in the event of slippage, has been upgraded for a wider range of surfaces. The traction control system distributes torque to the wheels with the most grip. The system now works in tandem with the rear differential lock.

    Safety Features

The MU-X is packed with safety features, including some new additions. The new Gen4 Stereo Camera scans the road ahead and on the sides for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles, and other vehicles. Increased peripheral vision and depth perception increase the field of view by 200%, and vehicle detection range is increased by 25%.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control uses Traffic Sign Recognition to help match vehicle speed to the posted speed limit. When active, the system detects speed zone changes and alerts the driver via the Multi-Information Display. The driver can press the RES button on the steering wheel to adjust the speed automatically.

Traffic Jam Assist maintains vehicle speed and a safe distance from the vehicle ahead at speeds under 60 km/h (37.2 mph). The Rear Cross Traffic Brake detects approaching vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians while reversing out of a parking space or driveway and automatically applies the brakes to avoid a collision.

    Spacious Interior

The MU-X has class-leading boot space. With all seats up, it has 311 litres of storage, 1,119 litres with the third row folded flat, and 2,138 litres with the second and third rows folded flat.
