Isuzu has confirmed its Model Year 2025 FY Series 8x4 heavy-duty trucks are now officially available for sale across Australia. This completes the second phase of Isuzu’s most significant staged rollout to date. Dubbed the “Giant Killer,” the FY Series includes six FYH and FYJ models in the 32-tonne (35.3-U.S.-ton) gross vehicle mass (GVM) range, designed for construction, concrete work, waste management, and other applications.

    Concrete, Excavation & Utilities

Isuzu debuted the FY Series in 2012. The MY25 update offers wheelbase options ranging from 5.8 to 6.7  metres (19 to 22 feet). Isuzu Australia Head of Sales Craig White notes the series’ loyal customer following in the concrete mixing, excavation, and utilities sectors.

“It’s carved out quite a niche for itself over the years and continues to perform admirably against some of its heavyweight brand competitors in that market segment,” he says. “With this release, we can say unequivocally that the FY Series offers a highly competitive spec at its price point and presents a compelling value proposition for heavy-duty operators.”

    500 KG Greater Capacity

In accordance with the latest Australian Design Rules (ADR 80/04) emission standards, the new FY Series provides an additional 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds) of legal payload capacity over the models they replace. The boost is made possible by higher-capacity Meritor MFS73 steer axles, also used by Isuzu’s medium-duty FV Series.

    New Engine & Transmission

The lineup boasts a new 6-cylinder, direct-injection Isuzu 6UZ1 engine compliant with Euro 6 emission standards. The power plant is rated for 347 horsepower (255 kilowatts) at 2,000 rpm and for 1,437 Newton-metres (1,060 pounds-foot) of torque at 1,400 rpm. Isuzu mates the engine exclusively to a 6-speed Allison HD4430 heavy-duty automatic transmission.

    Advanced Safety & Cab Features

The FY Series adopts the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering the same wealth of safety features as Isuzu’s FX and FV Series models. Using bumper-integrated radar and a windscreen camera, the system includes:

    • Advanced emergency braking
    • Full-speed adaptive cruise control
    • Lane keeping assist
    • Adaptive driving beam
    • Traffic sign recognition

The FY Series’ redesigned cab takes the operator’s experience up several notches thanks to an ISRI 6860 seat described as the “CEO of air-suspension seating,” a 7-inch digital dash, and a 10.1-inch MyIsuzu Co-Pilot touchscreen system with voice control, wireless device charging, and more.
