Volvo Trucks recently unveiled its next-generation heavy-duty FH, FM, and FMX Electric trucks with upgraded performance, flexibility, and range. The new electric range, designed for on-road construction, urban logistics, regional distribution, refuse, utilities, and other specialised heavy applications, will be available for Australian buyers starting 15 June.

“We’re really sharpening our offering here and making electric solutions possible for an even wider range of transport applications,” says Tom Chapman, Vice President, Volvo Trucks Australia. “This updated truck range means we can provide even more productivity for our customers. It has never been easier for operators to go electric.

“We stand firm in our belief that electric vehicles will deliver a large part of the world's truck transport in the future. With the amazing performance of all our new trucks, it's easy to see why.”

    New Driveline, Longer Range

Built to handle heavier loads and challenging conditions, the new electric trucks are equipped with an all-new driveline engineered to operate the truck and power auxiliary equipment, including concrete mixers, hook lifts, or refuse units, without the need for extra motors or add-ons. The integrated gearbox power take-off (PTO) has increased functionality, enabling it to be used during driving. The trucks’ range is up to 400 kilometres, and the batteries can charge from 20% to 80% in an hour.

    More Power, More Options

The new 8-speed powershift gearbox is paired with a dual-motor drivetrain to produce up to 540 kilowatts (731 horsepower) of power and maximum electric torque for smooth, seamless gear shifting and reduced noise. Multiple configurations are available to accommodate cranes, hook lifts, or tipper bodies.

“The next-generation FH, FM, and FMX Electric are packed with new, smart functions; they offer great driver comfort and make zero tailpipe emissions transport available for a very wide range of transport assignments,” says Chapman.
