Hino Expands Hybrid Electric Truck Lineup With 300 Series Alloy Tray & TradeAce Built To Go Models
Hino Australia is adding new 300 Series Alloy Tray and TradeAce Built to Go models to its Hybrid Electric range of light-duty trucks this summer. The 4x2 models should pique the interest of tradespeople and small-business operators looking for a ready-to-work truck that can help reduce operating costs. Each model is available in 4.5-tonne (5-U.S.-ton) gross vehicle mass (GVM) 616 Standard Cab and 616 Wide Cab variants (drivable with a car licence) and a 6.5-t (7.2-U.S.-t) 716 Wide Cab variant. The TradeAce has a Hino Genuine aluminium tray, ladder racks, and a Hino Genuine premium bull bar for Wide Cab configurations and a nudge bar for the Standard Cab. The Alloy Tray eliminates ladder racks and a nudge or bull bar.
“Not only do our Hybrid Electric models meet Euro 6 exhaust emissions standards, but recent real-world trials comparing the proven Hino Hybrid Electric truck against a traditional diesel equivalent revealed a 22% reduction in fuel use and carbon dioxide emissions,” says Daniel Petrovski, Hino Australia department management, product strategy. “Greater savings are achievable depending on the application of the vehicle and how it is driven.”
Even More Savings
Hino says its 300 Series Hybrid Electric trucks can help customers realize up to a 16% reduction in annual maintenance costs thanks to their omission of a starter motor and an alternator. An included regenerative braking system, meanwhile, charges the trucks’ battery and prolongs brake life.
Hybrid Electric trucks are equipped with a power control unit (PCU) consisting of a battery, inverter, engine control unit (ECU), and DC-DC converter. The new trucks’ Hino N04C-WR four-cylinder common-rail injected turbo-diesel engine is rated for 150 horsepower (110 kilowatts) and 470 newton-metres (347 pounds-foot) of maximum torque at 1,200 rpm, which is delivered in combination with the electric motor. Their six-speed automated transmission is directly coupled to the electric motor, which Hino says results in quicker gear shifts and smoother takeoffs.
The Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric
Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric trucks include numerous features designed to make them more comfortable, safer, and easier to drive. A 6.5-inch touchscreen display in the cab delivers views around the truck from up to four cameras. A 4.2-inch instrument panel provides a speedometer, an offset tachometer, and various warning gauges. An included Hino SmartSafe safety package includes driver assistance and safety-enhancing technologies like Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, lane departure warning, vehicle stability control, a reverse camera, and hill-start assist.
